Erik Johansson
Erik Johansson is an innovative photographer and retoucher who masterfully tests the boundaries between reality and fiction. His acclaimed style transforms unreal ideas into realistic images, all infused with a touch of humor. Erik is today based in Prague, Czech Republic where he works on personal projects and exhibitions and collaborates with high-profile clients like Google, Adobe, and Microsoft and many more. For him, photography is a process of collecting visual material—often combining hundreds of images—to craft a finished picture that challenges conventional perceptions of reality. Growing up on a farm in Västergötland, Sweden, Erik’s early experiences in the countryside—with its wide open landscapes and charming small red houses—have profoundly influenced his visual style. His passion for drawing and computers began at a young age, fueled by the imaginative worlds he discovered through computer games. At 15, when he received his first digital camera, a whole new realm of creative possibilities opened up for him. In 2005, Erik moved to Gothenburg to study computer science at Chalmers University of Technology. During his studies, he began publishing his photographs online, which soon led to commissioned work from local advertising agencies. Balancing freelance assignments with his academic pursuits, Erik eventually transitioned to full-time freelancing upon graduation. While he still finds interaction design fascinating, photography and retouching remain his true passions. Erik Johansson’s work, characterized by its seamless blend of digital artistry and realistic execution, continues to captivate audiences and redefine modern visual storytelling.
