Peter Gehrman
Peter Gehrman is an illustrator and interior architect based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Born in 1990 in the southern countryside of Sweden, Peter developed a passion for design early on and earned his BFA from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design. Peter’s background in interior architecture profoundly influences his illustrative work. Even in compositions where buildings are absent, his expert use of lines, curves, light, and shadow guides the viewer on a visual journey, setting moods and narrating stories almost subconsciously. His work is noted for its soft, airbrushed color palette and distinctive soft focus, which lend a dreamlike quality to his illustrations. Figures in his compositions often appear obscured or minimally detailed, yet even the subtlest hints of posture and motion convey powerful narratives. Brandon Bogajewicz of Vinyl Moon summarizes Peter’s unique style: “Peter’s experience as an interior architect has a clear impact on his illustrations. Even when buildings themselves aren’t present in his art, his use of lines, curves, light and shadow carefully guides the viewer’s eye on a journey across the image, telling a story or setting a mood without making the viewer consciously aware of their role. There is a soft, airbrushed quality to his colors, and a distinctive use of soft focus gives a dreamlike quality to many of his pieces. The figures in his compositions are often obscured or left blank, but the slightest details of their posture and motion tell an impactful story all on their own.” Peter Gehrman continues to push creative boundaries, merging architectural precision with imaginative illustration to create visually engaging and thought-provoking art.
